Terms of Service

Last updated: April 15, 2026. These terms govern your access to and use of the Rigorous Reasoning platform at rigorousreasoning.com.

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using the Rigorous Reasoning platform (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. If you are using the Service on behalf of an institution, you represent that you have authority to bind that institution to these terms.

2. Account eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Students under 18 should use the Service with the consent and supervision of a parent, guardian, or authorized instructor. Instructor accounts are available to educators at recognized institutions and independent tutors.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to: (a) submit work that is not your own for grading; (b) share your account credentials with others; (c) attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract the curriculum in bulk for redistribution; (d) use the Service to harass other users or upload harmful content; or (e) interfere with the security or integrity of the Service.

4. Content and intellectual property

The curriculum, including lesson explanations, worked examples, activities, and feedback prompts, is the intellectual property of Rigorous Reasoning. You retain ownership of the responses you submit, but you grant Rigorous Reasoning a license to store, display, and process your submissions for the purpose of providing the Service, including AI-generated feedback.

5. AI feedback disclaimer

AI-generated feedback is provided as a learning aid. It is not guaranteed to be accurate in every case, especially for complex arguments or edge cases. Feedback should be treated as one input into your own reasoning, not as authoritative grading.

6. Subscriptions and billing

Paid plans are billed through Stripe. You may cancel at any time through the Stripe customer portal linked from your account. Refund requests are handled on a case-by-case basis. Institutional subscriptions are governed by separate written agreements.

7. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time by contacting support. Upon termination, your personal data is handled per our Privacy Policy.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Rigorous Reasoning shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts located in Delaware.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the platform and by email to registered account holders. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
